New York, NY, June 26, 2025 – Avo is pleased to announce a partnership with the American Academy of Pediatrics’ (AAP) Pediatric Acute & Critical Care (PACC) Quality Network to launch a specialized mobile app for the BARCK Project, an initiative focused on advancing croup care in children. This collaboration makes croup guidelines, scoring tools, and clinical algorithms readily available in one convenient application for AAP’s partnering hospitals—empowering clinicians to seamlessly incorporate evidence-based best practices into patient care.

Avo’s BARCK Project App features:

  • Croup Score and Care Pathways: Easy reference to the Westley Croup Score and croup clinical algorithms sourced from multiple children’s hospitals, helping clinicians evaluate and manage croup more effectively. Westley Croup Score is a tool used to assess the severity of croup, a respiratory illness in children, based on five clinical signs: stridor, retractions, air entry, cyanosis, and level of consciousness.

  • AI-Assisted Search: An AI function that allows users to ask questions and instantly find relevant project materials, guidelines, and key literature, further streamlining clinical workflows.

  • Convenient Accessibility: Providers can access all BARCK Project content on the go, reducing barriers to implementation and improving the consistency of croup care.

This initiative will be a vital step for the AAP to assess the usage and effectiveness of a mobile-friendly and AI powered approach to quality improvement and standardization initiatives.
